Description :
Abstract:
Paper describe the adsorption of Co(II) metal ion from aqueous solutions by Sodium Dodecyl
Sulfate an anionic surfactant species on granular activated charcoal. The contact time and
pH were determined and adsorption isotherms were obtained for Co(II) metal ion. Capacity
of the activated charcoal to adsorb Co(II) metal ion increased in proportion to the quantity
of surfactant with which they were impregnated. The adsorption process follows pseudo
second order reaction kinetics as well as validated to Freundlich, Langmuir adsorption
isotherms. The paper discusses the thermodynamic and kinetic parameters. Results
demonstrate that maximum removal efficiency was found to be 95% for Co(II) at pH 4.
