Environmental awareness essentially serves as an educational tool helping people around the world understand the economic, aesthetic and biological importance of pre-reducing harmful effects of man-made alterations. Environment Studies Department, Rajaram College has initiated different innovative subjects for students. In the year 2016-17 the department conducted a youth initiative programme about environment awareness in school children. The youth had to conduct various programmes under five themes viz. natural colours, E-waste, water conservation, best from waste, field visit/garden visit. The students were asked to frame and conduct programmes for the school children on the given themes. They had to submit all the resource materials used and sample products produced by them in the department. In this initiative total 575 students participated as facilitators. The activity benefited 1421 students (1st-10th Std.) from 185 schools in Kolhapur district.
