Description :
Present paper deals with the study of members of Bacillariophyceae collected from water reservoir located at Table Land, Panchgani, Satara district, Maharashtra. This Table Land is flat and large expanse of lateritic rock. It is the second longest mountain plateau in Asia. This study has shown presence of twenty two diatoms belonging to two orders Centrales and Pennales. Collected species belong to thirteen genera viz. Melosira Cyclotella, Fragilaria, Synedra, Eunotia Frustulia, Pleurosigma, Caloneis, Navicula, Pinnularia, Gomphonema, Hantzschia and Nitzschia. Among these thirteen genera Synedra, Eunotia and Navicula showed their dominance. These diatoms are being reported for the first time from the study area.
