Description :
A varied class of floating organisms found in lakes and other aquatic habitats are called zooplanktons. They are an essential component of the food chain and the freshwater ecology. Groups such as rotifers, copepods, cladocerans, ostracoda, and others are included in the category of zooplankton. Zooplankton are algae-eating plankton and eat other phytoplanktons also, is an essential component of a lake's ecosystem. By feeding on algae, they contribute to the regulation of algal populations and the preservation of the ecosystem's overall equilibrium. Furthermore, a large number of small fish and other aquatic species mostly obtain their nourishment from zooplanktons. A body of water's zooplankton population and composition can change based on a number of variables, including temperature, predator presence, and nutrient levels.
