Description :
Remote sensing is the process of detecting and monitoring the physical characteristics of an area by measuring its reflected and emitted radiation at a distance typically from satellite. Special cameras collect remotely sensed images, which help researchers "sense" things about the Earth. For example, Cameras on satellites and airplanes take images of large areas on the Earth's surface, allowing us to see much more than we can standing on the ground. Change detection refers to the process of identifying differences in the state of land features by observing them at different times. This process can be accomplished either manually or with the aid of remote sensing software. change detection refers to the process of identifying differences in the state of land features by observing them at different times. With increased availability and improved quality of multi-spatial and multi-temporal remote sensing data, it is now possible to detect urban changes in a timely and cost-effective way. This study aims to quantify changes in urban area of Symbiosis University Nagpur Maharashtra India using Land satellite image. Urban changes were detected by satellite images of Land sat MSS in march-2016, march-2018, andmay-2020 using a geographic information system (GIS).
