Neutral mononuclear transition metal complexes of nalidixic acid with Ni(II) and Co(II)
in presence of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) or 2,2’-bipyridyl (bipy) have been prepared.
The prepared complexes were characterized and studied with FT-IR, UV-Visible, XRD,
TGA-DTA and elemental analysis. Spectroscopic studies suggest that the nalidixic acid
acts as bidentate ligand in all the complexes and bind with the metal ion through the
pyridine and one carboxylic oxygen atom.
