Description :
Funambulus pennanti was studied. During the last decade, several potent antifertility drugs have been identified which are powerful spermatogenesis inhibitors and this fact has encouraged me to search for satisfactory pills for men which are fully effective, safe, reversible and acceptable. It was with this point of view that the drug LHRH-Against have been selected for the present study. The study of literature on this drug reveals that precise sites of antifertility action and the manner in which this drug act and its implications are not fully understood so for. Therefore the efforts were made to study the effects of LHRH-Agonist. In the present study LHRH-Agonist (Buserelin acetate) was used. The treatment of LHRH-Agonist was given in two doses. One group received 0.2 µg 1 day/animal for 1 week and other group received 1.0 µg/alternate day for 4 weeks. LHRH-Agonist was dissolved in saline solution. After the low dose treatment of 0.2 µg LHRH-Agonist it is observed that no change in body weight of animal, testis and epididymis, Seminal vesicle and Prostate. After high dose of LHRH-Agonist i.e. 1.0 ug, it is noticed significant reduction in body weight and reproductive organs of male squirrels. (refer conclusion in continuation). On the basis of experimental study the weight loss of body and reproductive organs i.e. testis and Sex accessory glands viz. epididymis, prostate gland and seminal vesicle is due to regressive effects of LHRH-Agonist on reproductive organs.
