Description :
Sonala dam is an earthen dam constructed on River Adan, a tributary of River Godavari. A Study was conducted from Feb 2012 – Jan 2013 to examine the species richness and distribution of copepods in Sonala dam. Karl Pearson’s formula was used to calculate correlation coefficient between some of the physico-chemical parameters and copepods. The observations revealed six species of copepoda. A peak production was observed during summer. Three pollution indicator species were identified. Copepoda showed positive correlation with water temperature, conductivity and BOD, while negative relationship with DO. There is no report of study on the species richness and distribution of copepods in this reservoir and that is the reason the present study was planned. Key words: - Copepoda, Correlation Coefficient, Sonala dam, Physico-chemical parameters.
